7.28.08 WWE RAW Report

Written by WabCo WWE

What’s up K4Ders…
I’m WabCo and this is your RAW recap for 7-28-08…
I have a fucked up eye and am tired as shit…so tonight is going to be the Pessimistic RAW Report! Because I’m not in the mood for the bullshit that I’m sure is in store for us so lets go…WWE intro!…we get a video recap of last week’s RAW. If you missed it read my recap! That was a good video. RAW intro. I think there is a new video for the RAW intro… I may be wrong about that.
Pyro and Ballyhoo and we are Live with King and Cole from Washington D.C.

Cena time…and he looks pissed. Batista’s home-town crowd is shitting on Cena as he starts to talk. He says that he fucked up and wants to face the consequences. He calls out Batista so they can settle the consequences right now…and… after a long delay… we get Batista! Batista is rockin’ a throw-back Bullets jersey…which I happen to have one of. Batista tells Cena that he knows that he didn’t mean to hit him so they are cool. Batista tells Cena that he gets the first shot at the WHC after he wins it at Summerslam. Cena says he’s not sure Batista is next in line for a title shot. Cena puts over the McMahonlessness of RAW and wants a match with Batista tonight…a WM Main Event live on RAW….Shane-O-Mac!!! He says his sister and him have appointed a new GM of RAW who he will announce later. The new GM is already busting ass…including CM Punk v. “one of the most technically sound free agents in our business”. Cena gets a match too. Cena is teaming with Batista to face JBL and Kane. Commercial time.

We’re back and out comes Kelly Kelly for an intergender tag match. She will team with D’Lo against Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix. They go to the back from “moments ago” where Santino and Beth are saying that their relationship is strictly professional.

Kelly Kelly & D’Lo Brown v. Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix

The guys start. Inverted atomic drop after some comedy. D’Lo counters a sunset flip to a clothesline. D’LO misses a splash in the corner and Santino gets a neck breaker. Santino tries to lift d lo up but can’t, so Beth comes in and lifts him up. KK tags herself in and Beth takes control. Santino says he can handle her and comes in, knocks d lo off the apron, and rolls up KK for the win.

Winners via pinfall: Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix

Santino celebrates like a maniac and we get more sexual tension …Santino thinks about asking Beth something but is pussing out he starts to walk away and she grabs him and they make out a little. This is a little disturbing to me. ..And more commercials.

We get a plug for SNME THIS SATURDAY. Shane o mac is looking at a pic of Vinnie and JBL walks in and asks how his dad is…Shane doesn’t answer and just asks JBL what he wants…we get a lot of talking with a thesis that JBL wants the title shot at Summerslam. Shane o says they have to take it up with the new GM. Shane o gets a call from the new gm. Back to the ring and we are going to get a Tag team championship match Hacksaw Hime Duggan is out first and he will team with Jerry the king Lawler. We get a video of last week. A ref comes down and tells us that hacksaw isn’t teaming with the King, but Cole is. Dibiase and Rhodes are out

King and Cole v. Simply Priceless © World Tag Team Championship Match

King and Dibiase start. They lock up and Dibiase drives king into the corner. They break and do the same thing again. Dibiase whips king into the corner and gains control. Rhodes in now and is going to slap king, but king beats him to it. Back and forth in the corner, Rhodes hits a top rope bulldog and gets 2 with the pin attempt. Rest hold time…Rhodes misses a second rope elbow and starts taking rights from king. King sets whodes up for a piledriver but Dibiase makes the save. Cole accidently tags himself in and Rhodes throws king to the outside. Cole gets a shot in before Rhodes hits a big clothesline for the 1-2-3.

Winners via pinfall and STILL World Tag Team Champions: Dibiase and Rhodes

The ref did a good job of being vocal in that match since we didn’t have any commentators. Cole is out in the ring as we go to commercial.

Mike Adamle is going to fill in for Cole. Jamie Noble is out with Layla and says that the new GM better realize that he is the next ideal intercontinental champion. He challenges Kofi Kingston to come down and get it on. So we get a non-title match.

Jamie Noble v. Kofi Kingston ©

Noble gains control early but Kofi stops it with kicks and punches and all kinds of quick shit. Double leg drop gets a pop. Noble almost steals it with a roll through, Trouble in Paradise out of nowhere and that’s the match folks.

Winner via pinfall: Kofi Kingston

Backstage CM Punk is going to face “the hottest free agent in sports entertainment” next…who is it?

We’re back and JBL joins the announce team and tells Adamle to shut up and Listen. Punk is out first and has a staring contest with JBL. And his opponent…William Regal! Complete with an ugly ass gimmick. What the fuck is he wearing!?

CM Punk © & perpetual mid-carder v. William Regal w/ half body spandex.

They lock up and roll around the ropes. They trade wristlocks and control goes back and forth. Adamle reminds us that Regal beat punk last time they faced one on one. Some good mat wrestling going on now. Punk hits a jawbreaker and starts hitting kicks and knees. Regal rolls out and kicks Punks head into the ring post which busts him open. Regal hooks in a camel clutch and continues to work the head of Punk. {Punk attempts a small package out of a submission but only gets one. Regal keeps working the head with submissions. Trading strikes now as punk gains momentum. Good crisp strikes back and forth. WOW great looking double underhook belly to back suplex regal goes for the regal stretch but Punk gets out and hits the GTS out of nowhere. 1-2-3

Winner via pinfall: CM Punk

JBL in the ring now to get him some…but here comes KANE and his bag… Kane uppercuts JBL, punk kicks Kane, JBL lays out punk with a big boot. Kane acts crazy as shit and thinks about whether or not he is going to kill JBL…he decides not to, and we go to commercial.

We are back and Jericho is out for the FINAL Highlight Reel.
He is dressed in a suit and is accompanied by Lance Cade. Jericho kinda looks like a twat in a suit…haha fucking awesome…the jeritron is hanging in the background destroyed. Jericho tells us he is ostracized for growing up. He tells the crowd that this is the last Highlight Reel because he is growing up and doesn’t care about being a pony for the people anymore. He tells us that he has a compilation video of a man we will never see in the ring again...no not HBK...but Y2J. The video includes some funny ass moments from Y2J. Jericho says he is embarrassed of that. He says that when he destroyed HBK…he destroyed the fans too. Cade gets the stick and says that he appreciates Jericho even though the people don’t Cade says that Jericho saved him and he will be forever grateful. Jericho says that he appreciates Cade as well…and tells HBK to stay home and enjoy the rest of his life. Now Jericho is plugging himself to the title match at Summerslam against CM Punk as they pay the bills.

We’re back and JR comes out to join commentary. And just like Adamle he “got a call that he needed to be here”…probably has nothing to do with them taping SNME before RAW. Mickie James out and gives some love to her dad. Jillian out now…damn she’s annoying.

Mickie James © v. Jillian Hall

Collar and elbow tie up to start…MJ goes for a MickieRana early on but gets it blocked and Jillian gains control. I’m not going to recap this match because no one cares. Tilt-a-Whirl DDT wins it.

Winner via pinfall: Mickie James

Katie Lea comes out and kicks Mickie’s ass as she is talking to her dad after the match. Katie Lea on the stick now. Paul Burchill is out to support his sissy. She says that that was for the mysterious new GM and that she wants him or her to take notice of the next Women’s Champion and Intercontinental Champion. SMACKDOWN recap video. Tard Grisham with Shane-O-Mac...and Grisham wants to know who the new GM is. He tells Tard to sit back and enjoy the show…he will find out when everyone else does. And commercials…

Back live with King, Adamle, and JR. We get a Summerslam plug. And a SNME plug…Jenny McCarthy v. Autism is headlining. She is still hot as hell. But ya…good cause people …autism is serious shit. Cena talking to Cryme Tyme in the back…they are offering Cena back-up because Batista can’t be trusted. Cryme Tyme leaves and Cena and Batista tell each other that they don’t trust each other…typical promo…main event after the commercial.

We are back and JBL is out first, followed by Kane, Cena, and Batista. Main Event time!

JBL & Kane v. John Cena & Batista

JBL and Cena start us off, JBL starts hammering Cena but Cena fights back and tags in Batista, Big Dave works JBL in the comer and hits a power slam. Kane and Cena both come in and JBL and Kane both get knocked out of the ring. Cena and Batista face to face as they go to commercial one last time. We are back and JBL is controlling Cena, Kane gets tagged in and hits a dropkick to a seated Cena. Kane works Cena in the corner. Body slam and a pin attempt gets 1. Chinlock by Kane and we get the build for the hot tag. Cena fights toward Batista, but Kane pulls him away and goes out for a second. Cena and Kane are trading right hands. Kane hits a sidewalk slam and goes up top; Cena ducks the fist and hits DDT. Batista is reeling for the tag now…JBL in…Batista in!...Batista hits clotheslines in each corner and hits JBL with a spinebuster. Kane in but gets knocked away. JBL whips Batista into the ropes, which Kane pulls down making Batista fall to the outside. JBL brings Big Dave back in the ring and gets 2 with a cover. Kane back in now and works Batista’s ribs. Body scissors from Kane now and Batista is fighting back with a little ground and pound. JBL gets tagged in and cheap shots Cena. JBL kicks Batista’s ass in the corner while the ref is distracted…Batista hits a spear, but Kane distracts him and JBL hits a big boot. JBL accidently hits Kane…Kane grabs JBL by the neck Batista hits Kane with a spear…Cena tags himself in and lifts up Kane! FU cover 1-2-3!!!

Winners via pinfall: Cena and Batista

Cena and Batista are in the ring as Shane-O-Mac is out to introduce the new GM for RAW…..and it’s….Mike Adamle…who is in the ring now…and announces that it will be John Cena…v. Batista at Summerslam. They stare each other down as RAW goes off the air.

Mark-Out Moment: umm…The Highlight Reel was really well done, and I marked for the destroyed Jeritron I guess…

Bullshit Moment: Adamle as GM…what the fuck…that’s the best they could come up with?

Final Thoughts: I really didn’t like this RAW…the main event was a decent match, as were a couple others, but the huge build for the new GM resulted in bullshit. They should have brought Regal back in a better position. I do like to see that they are trying to create interest in the IC Strap. Also Santino and Jericho delivered for me as usual. WWE can do better.

ELITE XC ON CBS PART TWO REPORT

ELITE XC ON CBS PART TWO
By Chris F.

Coming into this night the promotion of Elite XC had almost no hype going into the show. The promotion’s top star Kimbo Slice wasn’t available for the show given the time in-between his last fight in May. The card banked on a rematch from the first CBS card, Robbie Lawler against Scott Smith. The first fight was a war and probably gained the two some more noterity. However, it probably wasn’t the smartest deal to expect Smith, and Lawler to be headliners on a major program. With Elite’s hands tied they did do a good job of putting together a card that could make up for the lack of star power. Now, it all matters if people flipped the channels and liked watching a MMA fight instead of watching for a character like Kimbo Slice.

Shayna Baszler Vs Cris Cyborg 140

This was a fun women’s match to kick the show off. Shayna was trained in catch wrestling by Josh Barnett. This mattering to me, because there was a chance Baszler could pull out a crazy pro wrestling style submission. Frank Gotch, and the STF was even mentioned in commentary by Mauro Ranallo. Unfortunately, Cyborg had other plans for Baszler. She came from the Chute Box camp and had some solid Muay Thai skills. Not only that, she totally stopped Baszler from being able to take her down.

Cyborg in a weird scene pretty much won the match twice. The first time after a bunch of punches Baszler crumbled to the ground. Cyborg, thinking she had won, jumped on top of the octagon in celebration. Meanwhile, ref Steve Mazagatti hadn’t called the fight, and had to yell for about 30-40 seconds to get Cyborg back. Cyborg then came back and delivered even more unresponded punches to Baszler to the fight was finally stopped.

Baszler in RD 2.

Jake Shields Vs Nick Thompson 170

Shields finished this won quickly in just over a minute. It was a pretty much a BJJ clinic. Thompson got taken down Shields put his hooks in and got the mount then guillotined him for the win. Shields made a note to put a challenge out to the winner of the UFC bout between GSP and Jon Fitch. Shields won the EliteXC Welterweight belt and wants to unify it with the UFC’S.

Jake Shields in RD 1 via Sub for the Welterweight Championship

Nick Diaz Vs Thomas Denny 160

Diaz was a huge favorite coming in and a huge favorite being in his hometown of Stockton, California. Diaz is unbelievable heel, and probably one of the most hated fighters in the sport. The older brother of Nate is known for his boxing and dangerous Ju Jitsu. Diaz coming into this fight wanted to make it another boxing match instead of using his ground skills. Thomas Denny was more than happy to stand with Diaz being his best chance of winning. Denny stayed in early and made it a fight, but later in the first round Diaz found his boxing rhythm. Diaz came out in the second round guns blazing again very relaxed and picked his spots. He knocked out Denny and the crowd was more into this then anything tonight. Diaz should be used better by Elite XC, the man has incredible charisma inside and outside the cage.

Scott Smith Vs Robbie Lawler 185

This Middleweight championship fight is the rematch from the first show. Two punchers who usually put on the kind of fight fans love to see. Scott Smith won me over while in the UFC when he won an epic standup fight against Pete Sell. Robbie Lawler also had a stint in the UFC where he was very good but ended up going on bad streak of fights. Lawler came back from that and was the Middleweight champion going into the fight.

The first round was just as expected another standup war. Lots of kicks and punches and both got stunned in the first. Hard round to judge, Lawler was ahead in the first but Scott ended up coming back with a flurry at the end.

The second round they came out throwing again. This time, Smith got Lawler in the clinch and busted him open with his elbows. After that, Lawler turned the tables in the clinch using punches and finally knees to drop Smith. Great brawl.

Robbie Lawler RD 2 TKO

This show was another good offering by Elite XC. You could not ask more from a MMA show. This time there was a better mix of technical fighting and brawling. A lot better representation of MMA from Elite XC. Elite XC does a fantastic job with the way they cover their fights. The commentating with Frank Shamrock, Mauro, and Gus Johnson is one of the best teams covering any sport. Fun show, not a bad match on the card.

Anderson Silva Wins All Around

Anderson Silva Wins All Around
by Chris F.

The weekend that was supposed to be all about Fedor facing UFC castoff Tim Sylvia, along with a marching band of overpriced fighters was interrupted by the Spider.

Dana White ran his best against, Affliction’s best and came out on top. Not only did Anderson Silva knock out James Irvin he went ahead and put himself up there with other UFC stars as draws. UFC FN 14 drew a 2.1 rating, which is the third highest showing by the UFC on Spike. What does that mean for the UFC?

Anderson Silva is now a star in the UFC, yes even more so than before. A 2.1 rating means that a bunch of people tuned in just to see Anderson Silva for the first time fight for free. UFC has shown a terrific ability to turn their TV audience into PPV buy rates.

Affliction has a somewhat auspicious start. The diehard Sherdoggers loved the PPV. In the end, reportedly the show did about 100,000 buys. Which, is not bad by any means for a company doing a first show.

Here is your problem though. Affliction spent more money on talent that I have ever seen on any card. They threw money around like it was nothing. Fedor, alone, was paid over one million dollars. Guys like Matt Lindland made 300,000, Tim Sylvia 800,000 ( for 36 seconds of work), the list of outrageous payoffs goes on and on.

I understand the theory of spending money to make money, but this is outrageous and could potentially be damaging to the sport of MMA. If guys see they can make outrageous payoffs elsewhere they may leave an organization like the UFC. It’s a disaster area after that, will get one hundred companies and one hundred different versions of champions.

It is great to see guys get paid good money and see good cards, but salaries like this don’t do anything but put you in the red. Affliction may get popular but in doing so it may destroy it self in the same way World Championship Wrestling did.

RAW Report 7.21.08 by WabCoWWE

WabCoWWE Raw Report! 7-21-2008

WWE Intro! Hulkamania is still running wild evidently. Recap of the GAB. Punk got punked…twice. Batista is in the production truck to start the show. Raw intro and you betta watch your f*in neck. Pyro and Ballyhoo and we’re live and sold out from Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino. King and Cole are the announcers…they welcome us and tell us Cena and JBL will meet again tonight to settle everything in a six man tag. Hey that match looks familiar! Also what the fuck could they have left to settle after 197632 matches and 15322 hardcore matches? But a six man tag is going to end this feud once and for all!!! Yea…right… Batista walks alone down the pit of danger that is the entrance ramp and it is promo time. He planned on coming out with the strap tonight but Kane is basically a dick. Since we got no McMahons, Big Dave appoints himself in charge. He says the one match he is making is CM Punk defending the WHC against me…well not me but him. CM Punk v. Batista. JBL’s on the tron now and tells Batista to suck a moose knuckle…or something to that extent. And that he has no right to demand a title rematch. JBL says Batista isn’t special but he is, so the next world title match is his. Batista decides that since there is a difference of opinion JBL should come to the ring and discuss it. JBL pusses out and tells everyone he is important or something…he’s not…he also thinks he’s in charge…he’s not. JBL tells Batista that if he wants a match so bad to go find Kane. And here comes Punk! Punk on the stick now and he gets a little kiddy pop. Punk says that JBL is right and the law of the jungle rules around here…you have the Animal and since Punk has the strap…he is king of the jungle. Punk tells JBL to eat shit and shut up and tells Batista he can have his shot tonight!! Oh JBL’s pissed and Batista tells the truck to mute him and they do. CM Punk V. Batista for the WHC tonight!

Jenny McCarthy plugs SNME on Aug. 2 @ 9 PM. HBK! Or maybe not... Lance Cade out now and has the stick. HBK used to be his mentor and last night took the beating of his life. Cade wants Shawn to come to the ring. And says that if HBK does come down that they will have words they should have had a long time ago. Paul London out now for the match. Is it October? I smell squash!

Lance Cade v. Paul London

So Cade is big and strong, London is small and fast. Cade heels it up and controls the early part of the match. London fights back and gets a 2 with a springboard flying cross body. Cade regains control by throwing London into the ring post. Rock Bottom Bomb for the 1-2-3.
Winner via pinfall: Lance Cade

Cade back on the stick now. He says if that wasn’t enough to get HBK out then maybe this will be. The man who ended HBK’s career Chris Jericho! Commercial break as Y2J gets in the ring.

We’re back and Y2J gets the mic from Cade. Jericho tells us that no matter how much any of us want HBK…he is not coming.. Y2J is gonna show us footage from last night to show why HBK may never enter the ring again. The footage is graphic and shit so consider yourself warned. So we gey highlights of the match from last night at the GAB. This was a good match last night …and a FUCKIN AMAZING VIDEO PACKAGE tonight. Real real good shit here. Jericho talking again, and HBK getting his ass kicked is our fault. There is no blood on Jericho’s hands….I sure hope not that would be kinda gross and dangerous. We get some religious rhetoric now and Y2J says fuck all of us and he is not being the savior anymore. I’m glad the Big JC didn’t give up as easy. I’m not even going there. That is a whole other article. Good shit here from Jericho now. We suck because we want him to be the WCW Heel Jericho (no shit!!). But he is more mature now and considers himself saved because he ended the career of HBK who was evidently an asshole. Even though he is waaay over as a babyface. Another commercial! 30 minutes in we have one match and it was a squash. O Well that was another great promo from Jericho.

WWE Rewind to Santino getting bitched out by BP. Back live and they plug the Casino. Kelly Kelly and her ass are out now. And her opponent is Beth Phoenix.

Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix

Kelly Kelly starts out fast and gains the upper hand. Damn that girl easily gets most improved worker. 6 months ago she was down right dangerous in the ring. Beth Phoenix gains control and acts like a bitch. Kelly Kelly fights back and fucks up an enziguiri. Spinning head scissors and drop kick by Kelly Kelly. She goes for some tumbling shit. BP catches her for her finisher. KK rolls through! BP reverses and goes straight to her finisher hooks the legs and we get a view of Kelly Kelly’s inner parts as the ref counts 1-2-3.
Winner via pinfall: Beth Phoenix.

King and Cole plug the WHC rematch and the CTC vs. New Money Inc. 6 man tag…which is next!

We’re back and Hacksaw is on the stick. He tells us he is thinking about hanging up the boots. He looks back on his 30 year career…winning the first Royal Rumble, making tons of friends, and surviving kidney cancer. I did not know that. The King interrupts him and tells him to hold on just a tick. King tells him there is no age limit in the E. And as long as Hacksaw is passionate then he can do this as long as he wants. His mere presence causes people to chant USA...well only when prompted. Hacksaw says he isn’t retiring he guesses. He just needed to hear that. Rhodes and Dibiase are out now. Teddy boy on the mic. He thinks it’s funny that King is giving career advice and tells King and Hacksaw that they both need to hang it up. Rhodes now and says that he was 2 ½ when Hacksaw won the rumble and they weren’t even alive when king slapped Kaufman on letterman. King says well it went something like this…and bitch slaps Cody! Cody’s pissed, King and Hacksaw leave and here is JBL now. JBL is walking like he has a corn cob up his ass…maybe its soap. Commercial time!
We’re back and Cole says the stakes are higher this week!? Why? Whatever, Cryme Tyme is out now…and here is Cena…Good pop as usually. Cole tells us about Cena’s bandaged elbow and pieces of glass in his back. I call bullshit.

CTC vs. New Money Inc.
Cena and JBL start it off…or not because JBL is a pussy. So Rhodes is in to start. They lock up and Rhodes gains control, but Cena fights back. Bulldog for 2. Cena tags in Shad and goes for a quick cover. Rhodes counters a corner splash attempt and tags in Dibiase. Shad kicks Dibiase’s ass for a minute and tags in JTG. Double team flying overhead splash, but Dibiase fights back and hangs JTG up on the ropes. JBL in now and starts kicking JTG ‘s ass. The ref warns him about the 5 count and Rhodes is back in. Resthold…JTG is getting bigger. That dude is pretty stacked. Rhodes tags in Dibiase, pin attempt gets one. A slam and top rope ab stomp from Dibiase get 2. JBL in again to work on JTG and Cena is pacing on the apron. Good action now by the ref. He is being aware and vocal. Rhodes back in and drops a boot from the top. Another resthold and JTG is getting the crowd back into it. JTG reversed for the roll-up. Rhodes kickes out, and JTG and gets his gut punted by Rhodes. Dibiase in again and JBL is really workin the ref now. Good Shit here people. MONEY MONEY YEAH YEAH chant from the crowd as JTG fights back. Dropkick from JTG…Rhodes in and prevents JTG from getting the tag with an elbow. Rhodes is working JTG in the corner now. JTG moves away from the splash…Rhodes gets to Dibiases, JTG gets CENA!!!! Shoulder blocks, Olympic slam. Cena goes ape shit on JBL who runs away through the crowd CENA hits the champs in the corner. DOUBLE FU!! HOLY SHIT!!!! Cena just FUed the Tag Champs at the same time. He pins Dibiase.
Winners via pinfall: CTC

Cena goes and hugs his dad after the match. Jericho and Cade are walking backstage and are met by Kane at the back door. He stares them down and walks past them. Commercial time.

We’re back and we get a good video about SNME. WWE Superstars are teaming up with celebrities to fight autism. Everyone better watch that shit. Autism is some serious shit and its great that the E is doing good stuff. Anyways... Mickies out to the ring…Here comes Kofi Kingston. We are going to get some intergender tag action now. Here come the Burchills.

Mickie James and Kofi Kingston v. Paul and Katie Lea Burchill

The ladies start us off. Mickie James gets a Thezs Press and gains the upper hand. MickieRana from the top rope. Mickie slaps Paul and he chases her. Kingston gives a cross body off the top rope to save Micke. The men are in now. Kofi is flyin around and goes for a pin…but lets it up and Katie Lea comes in the ring. Paul uses the distraction to chop block Kofe. Kofi flying around some more after a resthold. Kicks and strikes galore from Kofi. Mickie takes Katie Lea out and starts kicking her ass on the outside. Paul makes the save. Kofi comes down and Paul dodges a kick so that Kofi slams his ankle in to the ring post. Paul Burchill finishes him with a neckbreaker and pins him 1-2-3. ?! Burchill has an over finisher with the Curb Stomp, but instead he uses a fucking neckbreaker?!
Winner via pinfall: The Burchills

Jamie Noble is talking to Layla now. Batista is looking for Kane, but Noble tells him to go do some dumbbell flies or something. Batista chokes him and tells him that he is looking for Kane. Commercial Break. NOTE: Fuck the “Truth” commercials. The creators can eat soup from Snitsky’s ass.

GAB video package brings us back. Good stuff here as usual. Grisham is with Punk. He asks Punk why he is giving Batista another chance instead of just being glad he escaped. He says he wants to be a champ that goes down swingin. JBL here now and says that he is going to be Champ after Summerslam no matter who he faces. He says that Punk will only ever be known as a transitional champ. Punk tells him that he doesn’t know that and the only thing in the History Books thus far is that his first successful title defense was against JBL himself. Another Commercial.

Another casino plug and video of the HBK v. Y2J match. Back live and Cole tells us that HBK’s career may be over. Out comes Santino Marrrella. He wants to clarify…he was referring to fighting a man. He doesn’t fight people with the Fallopian Tubes. HAHA so he challenges a man. D’Lo Brown is back! No reaction from the crowd at all. WTF? He looks pretty good…and quite a bit different than I remember.

Santino Marella v. D’Lo Brown
Beth Phoenix walks down to distract Santino. D’Lo works Santino in the corner. Santino dodges but D’Lo gets a suplex and drops the leg. Clothesline to a seated Santino. Up top now…Low Down! 1-2-3. Beautiful splash there by D’Lo.
Winner via Pinfall: D’Lo Brown

Beth Phoenix is in the ring as D’Lo celebrates on the ramp. Strange sexual tension between Santino and Beth Phoenix now as the exchange rear waist locks and then KISS. Haha! Good shit here people! A bit of confusion among everyone involved here now as Cole plugs the main event, which is coming up after the commercial.

Back live and its main event time! Batista out first. I guess no McMahons on TV = no wellness program, because Big Dave looks super juiced tonight. Here comes Kane now. Kane chokeslams Batista and here is Punk. He clotheslines Kane over the top and refs are out to stop Kane. Kane chases the cameraman backstage. The Ref asks if Batista can compete and Punk asks him if he really wants the match or not. This pisses Batista off and he says he’s ready to go…after another commercial.

Batista v. CM Punk © Word Heavyweight Championship Match
Lillian gives us the in-ring intros because this is important and shit. Bell rings and Punk grabs a rear waist lock into a side headlock. Batista sends him to the ropes and drops him with a standing shoulder block. Back and forth strikes now. Early cover attempt by Batista gets 2. Batista Works Punk in the corner and sends him off the ropes. CM Punk reverse with a swinging neck breaker to gain the advantage. Punk works Batista in the corner now. Dropkick to a seated Batista now only gets a 1. Punk is working the head and neck now. Batista fights back but Punk gets a shitty looking drop toe hold to stop that. Now into a half-ass Komura w/out the hooks . Batista powers out and throws Punk across the ring. Punk hits Batista with a leg drop as he is getting up and gets a two. Another couple legs to the head and then a really half assed cross face attempt. Batista gets out but Punk hits another shitty looking swinging neck breaker into a modified head scissors. BA-TIS-TA from the crowd for a second. Punk works Batista into the corner again and the camera catches him calling the spot CLEARLY. Batista reverses but Punk gets a drop toe hold into the corner. High knee in the corner, bulldog, 1-2 kick out. Punk setting up for the springboard splash. Batista Catches him! And spears him!!! Both men slow to get up. Batista is hulkin up now and laying it to Punk, but Punk reverses and misses a cross body. SPEAR!!! Batista getting ready for the Batista Bomb! FUCK! JBL is out…match is over! JBL lays it to Batista and here is Cena!. He goes to hit JBL but hits Batista accidently because JBL runs away. Set –up for the Batista Bomb, but Cena gets away. Refs out to separate the two men. Show over.
Winner: No Contest I guess.

Mark-Out Moment(s): Double FU, Santino & Beth

Bullshit Moment: Punk was really sloppy tonight…and its not that I hate the guy. I really like him most of the time but tonight he was just off. Also, Burchill using the neckbreaker to finish Kingston was bullshit.

Thoughts: Another good show with plenty of action and story development. Seeing D’Lo back was great. This was a good post-PPV RAW and I see it only getting better in the weeks to come.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 14 Preview

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 14 RAPPORT
Written by Chris F.

Saturday night will be a historic one in the history MMA. Two different companies will be running big-time fight cards up against one another. The most important and overshadowing will be the UFC Fight Night 15.

Dana White, the brash owner of the UFC took exception when, a now rival promotion, AFFLICTION decided on debuting on PPV. Their stacked card includes an underground hyped heavyweight match up between PRIDE legend Fedor Emelianenko against former UFC champion Tim Sylvia. AFFLICTION had done everything in their power, using vast money resources to sign top level MMA fighters for their card.

In response, Dana White announced the UFC would be running Fight Night 15 on the same night for free on SPIKE TV. On top of all of that, Dana announced that Middleweight champion Anderson “ The Spider” Silva would make his Light Heavyweight debut against James “ Sandman” Irvin.

Anderson Silva is known as the top fighter in all of mixed martial arts today. He has literally crushed all competition he has faced in the Middleweight division. It has almost come to the point where anybody who is given a match with Silva is more like a sacrificial lamb rather than an opponent. Silva has captured the fans imaginations all over with his vicious beatings of Rich Franklin ( twice) , Travis Lutter, Chris Leben, and Dan Henderson. The only man I could compare his domination to is maybe that of Mike Tyson in his early days. When Anderson Silva walks down to the octagon its almost the exact same feeling as when Tyson walked out during his prime. You were not just going to see a great fight, the general feeling was a man was going to be hurt, hurt badly.

Main Card

Jake O’Brien Vs Cain Velazquez

This fight is mean’s to showcase Velazquez’s skills to UFC fans on free TV. UFC is banking on Cain becoming one of their top heavyweight fighters. He has good all around skills on the ground and boxing. Jake O’Brien comes in with only one loss to Andrei Arlovski in what was a rather boring fight at UFC 82. O’Brien is a wrestler but most wins have come way of TKO. Cain will want to keep it standing and has the skills to make that happen. I think Cain Velazquez wins this one with KO in the first round.

Reese Andy (205) Vs Brandon Vera (205)

Not much to say about Reese Andy, he is an IFL guy, I haven’t seen much of him. He hasn’t really fought anybody credible and it is his first time in the octagon. Vera is making his debut at 205. He has been asked for awhile now to make the move and finally has. Vera has tons of potential and at times has shined, then other times we have seen him be less than impressive. Vera has all the tools, he is good everywhere but just hasn’t seem to put it all together. I think Vera wins in round one again via strikes.

CB Dolloway (185) Vs Jesse Taylor (185)

Both men are getting their “ second chance.” Taylor since he busted a limo window and harassed women at a Las Vegas casino owned by Lorenzo Fertitta. Dolloway was embarrassed twice by underdog Amir Sadollah after being picked to win TUF 7. He wasn’t just arm barred once, but twice by Amir. Hopefully for CB, Jesse Taylor doesn’t know how to apply an armbar. CB should win this one he is the better all around fighter and should be the smarter fighter. But still to me, CB is lacking something and has two bad defeats on his mind. I think Jesse Taylor will win via unanimous decision.

Frankie Edgar (155) Vs Hermes Franca (155)

This should be the most fun fight of the night. Hermes is coming off a long suspension due to using steroids before his title fight against Sean Sherk. Edgar is also coming off a loss to fellow wrestler Grey Maynard. Hermes has good strikes and is a BJJ black belt. Problem for Hermes is the last time he faced a wrestler he wasn’t able to do much to keep from being thrown to the ground over and over again. I am going with Frankie Edgar via unanimous decision.

Anderson Silva (205) Vs James Irvin (205)

The main event of the card, and the draw being Anderson fighting at 205. The only questions are how the weight difference is going to affect him. I don’t think it will at all he cuts down from above 200 to get to 185. Anderson will be silky smooth as usual and will be able to avoid anything James Irvin offers up. Irvin always has a puncher’s chance but it is a small one at that. Silva by TKO round one.
